Magnet-free, inductive position sensor ICs that can be used for high-speed absolute position sensing in automotive, industrial, medical and consumer applications. It uses the physical principle of eddy currents to detect the position of a simple metallic target that is moving above a set of coils, consisting of one transmitter coil and two receiver coils. The Renesas IPS2200 family of inductive position sensors for high-speed motor commutation are industrial-qualified and designed for absolute rotor position sensing. Rather than expensive, bulky magnets, this IC uses the physical principle of Eddy currents to detect the position of a simple metallic target moving above a set of coils consisting of one transmitter and two receivers. Magnetic stray field immunity improves the reliability and flexibility of IPS2200 designs.
